Still

Sometimes, when life gets heavy, being near the sea is exactly what I need. Andrew and I made an early morning trip to Bondi, to experience the quiet before the storm. This last week has been rough, and this calm was just what I needed to prepare for the busy week ahead. I'm so thankful for mornings like this where we can collect our thoughts and remember what is most important.

Pallet Towel Rack

I've been really blessed to come from a family that celebrates creativity. If you've ever visited my family home, you'd be sure to find a variety of projects in progress, and new ideas blooming everywhere you turn. With this upbringing, it's not really a surprise that I'm constantly trying to find new ways to express myself. My darling often gets caught rolling his eyes as I try to explain to him why I want to attempt to make a quilt, collect mason jars to fill with tea and other goodies, or to sew some bunting with vintage doilies. Luckily for me, a couple of months ago when I told him that he should keep an eye out for a nice old discarded pallet so I can make a towel rack, he found a gorgeous one that perfectly suited what I had in mind.
In our travels, we collected hooks, a pretty drawer pull for my shower cap and the right coloured screws; then found a sunny afternoon to put it all together. Andrew is doing all the measuring, cutting, drilling and hanging in the pictures, but I swear I did do more than just take photos! I'm really happy with the end result, so now all I have to do is decide what we can make out of the rest of the pallet.

Brisbane Catch Up

We flew to Brisbane on Friday and caught up with a dear friend who has recently moved there from Sydney. He showed us around his new city; we wandered, explored, ate and drank, (and had a bit of a shop)! I loved catching up with such a kind, generous and totally cool friend. Brisbane was happy, bright and friendly and there was a festival of some sort on, so there were lights and mirror balls hanging from trees and buildings. I would love to go back and see the festival at night though, I'm sure the lanterns and the light show would have been spectacular!

City Delights

I love to wander through the streets of the city and imagine what it would be like to live in the beautiful homes I pass. Paddington has so many alluring buildings, rich in history and wonder. Bikes tied out the front, a mix of verandah gardens, brightly coloured doors and stained glass windows. There's something so blissful about exploring gorgeous hidden avenues, especially when you have a lovely new pair of red leather shoes to discover them in!

Black And White Love

Chris is my brother in law. I've known him for years, but I have never seen him as happy as he is now. Tessa, his fiance, is quirky, bubbly and confident and she has brought out such a joy in him. They're getting married in October and I'm really excited to witness it. Watching them together is like seeing spring burst away from winter; so much excitement and bliss between the two of them.
After Church, we got to have a taste test of their Wedding menu, and I was lucky enough to capture a few moments of them together. It was an enjoyable Sunday afternoon filled with good food and great company. The perfect end to a lazy weekend, and I thought I might play with my minimal Photoshop skills and do a bit of a black and white spread! So I hope you guys enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Relaxurday

This Saturday started with a shout, "we've got to vote today!" came the exclamation from my darling at 7:15am. That was the kick start to our busy morning which included a trip to the dreaded shopping centre. A pair of killer heels and a couple of swanky dresses later and we were back home in time to throw on some jeans, pick up my camera and head out again.
That is where the rushing segment of the day ended. The next part of the day I'd like to call "relaxurday". The afternoon was spent on horseback out at Camden; I had a lovely old Mare called Jill who is known for how calm and well, slow she is. Jill and I were mostly up the front, tied to our lovely guide the whole time. We wandered past cute cows, over a beautiful paddock with a muddy dam. So many childhood memories kept coming back to me as I took it all in. It was good for my soul to be out there and away from the bustle of traffic and people.
